🔁 Replenishment: reordering rules explained

Min/max rules, the forecasted quantity, and why Odoo sometimes orders more than you expect.

The rule

A reordering rule says: when the forecasted quantity of this product in this location falls below Min, order enough to reach Max. Forecasted = on hand + incoming - outgoing (confirmed, not yet done).

Why it ordered more than I thought

  • Confirmed sales orders not yet delivered count as outgoing, even if they ship next month.
  • Quantities round up to the product's purchase multiple or the vendor's minimum.
  • Max is a target, not a cap on one order.

Manual control

Inventory > Operations > Replenishment shows what the scheduler would order. Review, change quantities, snooze, then Order. Set the rule's trigger to Manual for products you prefer to approve.
