Many companies sell on Shopify or WooCommerce and run the rest of the business - stock, purchasing, shipping, accounting - in Odoo. The two need to talk: orders should land in Odoo without retyping, and the store should never sell what is not on the shelf. This article explains your options, what Odoo provides itself, what third-party connectors such as VentorTech's do, what they cost, and how to roll an integration out without surprises.
Key takeaways
- Odoo has no Odoo-built connector for Shopify or WooCommerce. Odoo's own marketplace connector is for Amazon (Enterprise). For Shopify and WooCommerce you use a third-party app from the Odoo Apps Store, a custom integration, or you move the store into Odoo's own eCommerce.
- A good connector keeps Odoo as the master for products, prices and stock, and brings orders, customers and payments from the store into Odoo.
- VentorTech's Shopify and WooCommerce Connector PRO apps are listed at US$559.08 each for Odoo 19, as a one-time purchase per Odoo version, on top of a shared core module.
- Third-party apps do not run on Odoo Online - you need Odoo.sh or your own server.
- Matching SKUs, mapping taxes and payment methods, and testing refunds on a staging copy matter more than the choice of app.
Four ways to combine Odoo and an online store
| Option | How it works | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Odoo eCommerce instead | Run the shop on Odoo's own Website and eCommerce apps - one system, no sync. | You want one platform and can move the store. |
| 2. Ready-made connector | Install a connector app from the Odoo Apps Store and configure the sync. | You keep Shopify or WooCommerce; standard flows. |
| 3. Custom integration | Your own code between the store's API and Odoo's external API. | Unusual flows a connector cannot handle. |
| 4. Automation platform | Tools such as Zapier or Make move single records on triggers. | Low volume and simple needs (for example, "new order creates a sales order"). |
Option 1 is often underestimated: Odoo's eCommerce shares products, stock, pricelists and customers with the rest of Odoo by design, and Odoo Enterprise can import an existing Shopify or WooCommerce site to get started. Our article on Odoo as a CMS and eCommerce platform covers that route. The rest of this article is about keeping your store and connecting it.
What Odoo provides itself
- Amazon Connector - part of Odoo Enterprise: imports Amazon orders and syncs deliveries.
- Shopify and WooCommerce - no connector built by Odoo in Odoo 19 or Odoo 20. Every Shopify or WooCommerce connector on the Odoo Apps Store is a third-party app.
- External API - any integration can create and read Odoo records through it. It requires the Custom plan on Odoo's price list.
One listing deserves a note: the Shopify app ecommerce_shopify by "Odoo IN Pvt Ltd" describes itself as "the only third-party Shopify app supported by Odoo". The Apps Store itself labels it Third Party. It is listed at US$195.33 for Odoo 19 and imports Shopify orders on a schedule (every 10 minutes), creating invoices and payments for paid orders.
What a connector should sync - and in which direction
The golden rule: one system owns each kind of data. In almost every project that means Odoo owns the catalogue and stock, and the store owns the checkout.
| Data | Direction | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Products, variants, images | Odoo → store (sometimes both ways at first import) | One product master, matched by SKU / Internal Reference. |
| Prices and sale prices | Odoo → store | Pricelists and promotions maintained in one place. |
| Stock levels | Odoo → store | Odoo knows receipts, other channels and reservations. This is what prevents overselling. |
| Orders and customers | Store → Odoo | Orders become sales orders, ready for picking, shipping and invoicing. |
| Payments | Store → Odoo | Paid orders reconcile against the gateway's payouts in accounting. |
| Shipments and tracking numbers | Odoo → store | The customer gets the "shipped" email with tracking. |
| Refunds and returns | Store → Odoo (often both) | Credit notes and return transfers keep stock and revenue right. |

From the vendor's Odoo Apps listings, October 2026. Prices are in US dollars and change; check the listing for your Odoo version before buying.
Other vendors publish Shopify and WooCommerce connectors as well, with different scopes and prices. Whichever you consider, judge them with the checklist below rather than on the feature list alone.
Third-party apps: what to check before you buy
The Odoo Apps Store has thousands of apps, from free modules to complete connectors. Support for a third-party app comes from its vendor, not from Odoo's own support. Before buying:
- Your hosting. Third-party apps cannot be installed on Odoo Online. Our hosting comparison explains the options.
- Your exact Odoo version. Apps are sold per version. When you upgrade Odoo, you need - and usually buy - the app for the new version, and it must exist before you can upgrade.
- Dependencies. Connectors often need a core module and a job queue; check what else gets installed.
- Licence. Most paid apps use the Odoo Proprietary Licence (OPL-1): you may use and modify the app, but not redistribute or resell it.
- Support and updates. How long support lasts after purchase, how often the app is updated for store API changes, and how fast the vendor answers.
- Sync method. Real-time webhooks or a schedule (every few minutes)? It decides how quickly stock and orders move.
- Error handling. A readable sync log and a way to retry failed records save hours every week.
- A test run. Install it on a staging copy with your real products and run real test orders before you pay for production use.
How to roll out the integration
- Decide who owns what. Normally Odoo owns products, prices and stock; the store owns checkout and payments. Write it down.
- Clean the product data. Every product and variant needs a unique SKU that is identical in both systems - in Odoo, the Internal Reference. Most sync problems start here.
- Work on a copy. Install the connector on an Odoo.sh staging branch or a copy of your server, connected to a development store if possible.
- Connect the store. Authorise the connector in your Shopify admin as its setup guide describes; in WooCommerce create REST API keys under WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > REST API. Give the connector only the permissions it needs.
- Map the details. Taxes to Odoo taxes and fiscal positions, payment methods to journals, shipping methods to Odoo carriers, store locations to Odoo warehouses.
- Import and match. Run the first import, then check that every store product is matched to exactly one Odoo product.
- Test end to end. Place orders with discounts, several quantities, a partial refund and a full refund; ship them in Odoo and check that tracking reaches the customer and the accounting balances.
- Go live and watch. Switch on stock sync last, check the sync log every day for the first weeks, and agree who fixes failed records.
Common pitfalls
- Duplicate or missing SKUs - products cannot be matched and orders fail or create duplicate products.
- Overselling - stock synced from on-hand instead of free quantity ignores goods already reserved for other orders.
- Tax differences - a store calculating tax differently from Odoo leaves small differences on every invoice.
- Two masters - editing prices or descriptions in both systems, so each sync overwrites the other.
- Upgrades forgotten - the connector for the next Odoo version is part of every upgrade plan; see our notes on upgrading to Odoo 20.
Connector, custom build or Odoo eCommerce?
| If this describes you | Choose |
|---|---|
| Your store works well, flows are standard, and you are on Odoo.sh or your own server | A ready-made connector |
| Special flows - custom bundles, B2B price rules, several systems in the chain | A connector extended with custom code, or a custom integration |
| You are on Odoo Online | Odoo eCommerce, or an integration that runs outside Odoo and uses the external API |
| You want one system and fewer moving parts | Odoo eCommerce |
Frequently asked questions
Does Odoo have a built-in Shopify connector?
No. Odoo 19 and Odoo 20 include no Shopify or WooCommerce connector built by Odoo; its own marketplace connector is for Amazon, in Odoo Enterprise. Shopify and WooCommerce connectors on the Odoo Apps Store are third-party apps.
Can I use a Shopify or WooCommerce connector on Odoo Online?
No. Odoo Online does not allow third-party apps. Use Odoo.sh or your own server, or move your shop to Odoo's own eCommerce.
What does the VentorTech Shopify connector cost?
Its Odoo Apps listing for Odoo 19 shows US$559.08 as a one-time purchase per Odoo version, plus the shared E-Commerce Connector Core at US$56.02. VentorTech also sells subscription packages with longer support. Prices change, so check the listing for your version.
Which system should be the master for stock and prices?
Odoo, in almost every case. Odoo sees receipts, other sales channels and reservations, so it should push prices and the free quantity to the store, while the store sends orders back.
How are products matched between Odoo and the store?
By SKU: the product's Internal Reference in Odoo must equal the SKU in Shopify or WooCommerce, unique per variant. Clean this before the first import.
Will the connector still work after I upgrade Odoo?
Only with the connector version for the new Odoo release. Third-party apps are sold and maintained per Odoo version, so check the vendor has released it before you plan the upgrade.
Can I connect several stores to one Odoo database?
Yes, with connectors that support it. VentorTech's Shopify and WooCommerce listings state there is no limit on the number of stores per Odoo instance.
Should I move my shop to Odoo eCommerce instead?
If you want one system and your store does not depend on platform-specific apps, Odoo eCommerce removes the sync entirely. If your store is central to your marketing and works well, a connector keeps it and still runs operations in Odoo.
